Tottenham Hotspur Urged To Move In For This Sunderland Striker: Decent Choice For De Zerbi?

In a recent interview with Football Insider, former scout Bryan King claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have been urged to move in for Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey. King said,

“He’s had a good school, really. He was at Ajax, then he went to Leipzig, then he went back to Ajax.

“Last season he was top scorer for Sunderland with seven goals, and certainly the way he finished against Man City, he did take his goals well. He’s a Dutch international. Sunderland picked him up, paid decent money for him. I think that could be a very good buy for them.

“If you say to Sunderland that there’s a bigger club out there, then I think Sunderland would be quite upset by the term of bigger club than Sunderland.

“Sunderland have got great support, they’ve got a great history. He’s beginning to look a very good investment for £22m. When you think what Tottenham paid for their centre-forwards, and by the way, Tottenham still need a centre-forward.

“I think he’d be interesting for anybody. If you’re going to score goals like you did against Man City, but when you look back and think he was a top scorer last year with seven goals, maybe that’s why he’s still at Sunderland.

“Maybe if that had been 17, things would have changed. So this season, it’s going to be interesting to see how many goals he does get. That £22m investment could become a £50m sale.”

Brobbey’s Impressive Form In English Football

Brobbey has enjoyed a good run of form at the Wearside club as he has already put in a few impressive displays for them in the final third. The 24-year-old has scored three times in six matches for Sunderland this season on all fronts.

The Dutch talent is currently among the most talented forwards in the Premier League. Hence, Spurs would do well to get him on board this January or at the end of this campaign.

His current contract at the Stadium of Light will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for Tottenham to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.

Will Brobbey Be A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Roberto De Zerbi?

Brobbey is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has proven himself to be a consistent goal-scorer in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The Dutch sensation is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the North London club if they decide to move in for him in 2027.

We can expect Brobbey to bring more quality and depth to Tottenham Hotspur boss Roberto De Zerbi’s frontline. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at the London club.

At 24, Brobbey has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a good choice for Spurs to consider next year. He will also help Tottenham compete for a European spot in the Premier League over the next few years.
