Rodri reveals major difference between Hansi Flick & Pep Guardiola

Barcelona star Rodri has this week provided an insight into the key difference in approach employed by his current and former managers at club level.

Midfielder Rodri is of course fresh off sealing what is likely to be the final high-profile transfer of his storied career. After making the call to bring a close to his stint on the books of Manchester City, the 30-year-old was sought out by Spanish football’s two leading clubs, in Barcelona and Real Madrid.

In the end, Rodri opted for the former, putting pen to paper on terms at the Spotify Camp Nou through the summer of 2030.

The ex-Ballon d’Or winner has spent the last month integrating himself into his new surroundings in Barcelona, now considered a starter in Hansi Flick’s midfield.

And as alluded to above, this week, Rodri has opened up on some of the key differences he has already taken note of between life under Flick, and former boss Pep Guardiola.

In quotes cited by journalist Fabrizio Romano, the engine room standout explained:

“It’s completely different from Guardiola’s methods. We train very, very hard in the gym; I was surprised. Pep’s philosophy is that playing games gives you rhythm; Hansi has a different view.”
