Fabian Hurzeler and trio of Albion players shortlisted for Premier League honours

Fabian Hurzeler and three of his high-flying Albion players are in contention for September’s Premier League awards.

According to TheArgus.co.uk, the Seagulls head coach is one of three nominees for the Barclays manager of the month after wins over Coventry and Arsenal, following a home draw with Leeds. The 3-2 comeback at Manchester United in the Carabao Cup does not count toward the award.

The Premier League hailed Albion’s display against Arsenal and listed Hurzeler alongside Andoni Iraola, whose Liverpool side also took seven points, and Enzo Maresca, whose Manchester City won three out of three.

Lewis Dunk’s long-range strike at Coventry is among eight contenders for the Guinness goal of the month.

Charalampos Kostoulas and Pascal Gross are on the EA Sports player of the month shortlist, which features eight names. Kostoulas, 19, scored in the wins at Coventry and against Arsenal and was singled out for relentless pressing and leading defensive metrics in the final third.

Gross’s citation noted two goals and three assists, describing the period as among the best months of his career.

Liverpool pair Alexander Isak and Jeremy Jacquet are also shortlisted, as is Jayden Bogle, the only league scorer against Albion this month. Voting across all categories is open at premierleague.com until Monday.
