Barcelona forward says ‘yes’ to PSG; formal offer expected soon – report

The moment of truth has arrived, with all parties involved in Ferran Torres’ future waiting for the decisive moves to be made.

The Barcelona forward has not shied away from the speculation during the many interviews he has given over the past few days, openly admitting that he is willing to consider a move this summer if the right sporting and financial project presents itself.

Ferran gives green light to PSG

Now, according to SPORT, Ferran has given PSG the green light to begin formal discussions, reopen the various lines of communication that have remained active with Barcelona in recent months, and move forward with a transfer between the two clubs.

The contacts between Ferran Torres and Paris Saint-Germain have been far more than a simple summer enquiry.

Luis Enrique personally became involved, making it clear to the Spanish international that the doors of the reigning European champions were open to him.

The PSG coach presented Ferran with a winning project in which he would have every chance of becoming one of the team’s key players.

Ferran was impressed by those conversations and made a commitment to PSG. Before the end of his summer break, he would contact the Parisian club again to let them know whether he intended to remain at Barcelona or take on a new challenge under Luis Enrique.

That first major decision has now been made, with Ferran now having said ‘yes’ to the reigning French and European champions.

Ferran is willing to leave, and PSG are eager to sign him. There is, however, a third key player in the saga that still has to publicly define its position: Barcelona.

The Catalan club have repeatedly stated that they would like Ferran to remain at the club, but have also made clear that they would not stand in the way of a substantial transfer offer should one arrive.

That is where the situation currently stands.

Julian Alvarez remains Barcelona’s priority

Deco and Hansi Flick are still hoping Atletico Madrid soften their stance, allowing Barça to improve their offer for Julian Alvarez, who remains the club’s priority to strengthen the attack.

It is a deal Barcelona have wanted for months, but Atletico have consistently refused to negotiate with their rivals and would only consider changing their position in the event of an extraordinary financial offer.

The departure of Ferran could significantly strengthen Barcelona’s financial position and help fund such a move.

Official offer expected soon

PSG are expected to submit an official offer to Barcelona in the coming days to begin negotiations for Ferran’s transfer.

All three parties are aware of the operation and are now waiting for the Parisian club to make the first formal move.

The objective is to complete the deal before Spain’s international players return to pre-season training next week, although that would require negotiations to move very quickly.

There is reason to believe an agreement could be reached rapidly.

The key figures on both sides know each other well and have maintained close professional relationships for years, with Luis Campos and Deco leading the sporting discussions, while Joan Laporta and Nasser Al-Khelaifi remain at the head of their respective clubs.
